Every organisation reaches milestones that make them stop and reflect.
For us at Fundraise & Recycle, one of those moments has just arrived.
Since 2023, we've officially recycled more than 2,500 tonnes of unwanted clothing and textiles.
It's an incredible achievement, but more importantly, it's a reminder of what can happen when communities, schools, charities and businesses work together towards a shared goal.
To put that figure into perspective...
It's a number that's difficult to imagine, but behind every kilogram is a story.
Every donation represents someone choosing to recycle instead of throwing clothing away. Every collection represents a partner organisation committed to making a positive difference. Every tonne reflects thousands of small actions that have combined to create something truly significant.
For us, this milestone isn't simply about the amount of clothing we've collected.
It's about what those textiles have gone on to achieve.
Over the last few years, we've worked with schools, charities, community organisations and businesses across the UK, helping them transform unwanted clothes into ongoing fundraising.
Those donations have supported educational resources, community projects, charitable initiatives and countless local causes, while preventing perfectly usable textiles from entering the waste stream unnecessarily.
That's the real impact of textile recycling.
It's environmental.
It's social.
And it's financial.
One of the biggest misconceptions about textile recycling is that individual donations don't make much difference.
In reality, every carrier bag, every wardrobe clear-out and every forgotten jumper contributes towards something much bigger.
When thousands of people each make one small decision to recycle their unwanted clothes, the collective impact becomes enormous.
That's exactly how we've reached 2,500 tonnes.
Not through one huge donation, but through thousands of communities choosing to take part.
As proud as we are of this milestone, what excites us even more is what's still to come.
We're continuing to expand our network of Clothes Banks and Bra Banks, helping more organisations generate sustainable fundraising while giving local communities an easy way to recycle their unwanted textiles.
New partnerships, new locations and new technology are helping us reach even more people than ever before.
And with every new organisation that joins us, the impact continues to grow.
To every school that has hosted one of our banks.
To every charity that has trusted us to support its fundraising.
To every community organisation, volunteer and supporter who has recycled even a single bag of clothing.
Thank you.
Reaching 2,500 tonnes is something we're incredibly proud of—but it doesn't feel like the finish line.
It feels like we're only just getting started.
If your organisation would like to be part of the next 2,500 tonnes, we'd love to help. Together, we can raise funds, reduce textile waste and create an even bigger impact for communities across the UK.
